Who is responsible
BenchLM is operated by the owner identified before launch. Privacy questions may be sent to contact BenchLM on X.
Information we collect
Google Analytics, Fathom Analytics, Ahrefs Web Analytics, and DataFast receive pages viewed, referring pages, approximate location, device and browser information, and interaction events. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, or newsletter form contents to analytics providers.
Newsletter signup records may include an email address, source page, country or market policy, consent state and version, signup status, and delivery timestamps. Cloudflare provides request and security metadata needed to operate the site and protect the signup endpoint.
The AI prompt generator and prompt optimizer send the brief or prompt to OpenRouter so the selected model provider can return a result. BenchLM does not save that text in its database, logs, or analytics. Requests require zero-data-retention and no-data-collection provider routing. Anonymous limits store a salted one-way hash of the client IP for up to 48 hours; the raw IP is not stored in the rate-limit table.
After a prompt result, visitors may rate it as useful or not useful and select a predefined reason. BenchLM stores that rating with bounded operational metadata such as the tool, target model family, model version, length bands, latency band, and retry outcome. It does not attach the submitted brief, prompt, or generated result. Optional written feedback is limited to 500 characters and deleted after 90 days; visitors are asked not to include personal, confidential, prompt, or generated content.
If a visitor uses Dictate, the browser asks for microphone permission and performs speech recognition. The browser may send audio to its speech service. We do not receive or store the audio, and recognized text is treated like text typed into the field.
Recognized search and AI crawlers are measured in two separate feeds. The internal feed receives the requested path, request method, timestamp, and crawler name, but excludes raw IP addresses, query strings, and the crawler's full user-agent string. DataFast separately receives the requested URL, referrer, crawler user agent and IP address, crawler classification, and response status to verify and report bot traffic.
How information is used
- Operate, secure, diagnose, and improve BenchLM.
- Measure which research, tools, and navigation are useful.
- Send requested newsletter messages and maintain unsubscribe state.
- Detect automated abuse and enforce hashed signup-rate limits.
- Generate or rewrite a prompt when a visitor submits one of the prompt tools.
- Measure prompt-tool output quality and prioritize product improvements.
Service providers and external links
Cloudflare hosts application infrastructure and newsletter storage. Resend delivers newsletter email. OpenRouter routes prompt-tool requests to an eligible model provider under the request's privacy controls. Analytics providers process usage data under their own terms. Affiliate and source links lead to independent sites with separate privacy practices.
Storage and retention
BenchLM uses browser storage for interface preferences, newsletter status, popup frequency, stable experiment variants, and the one-time handoff of a generated prompt to the optimizer. The handoff stays in the current browser session and is deleted when the optimizer reads it. Newsletter and consent records are retained as needed to provide the service, honor unsubscribe requests, prevent abuse, and meet applicable obligations. Rate-limit records store one-way hashes rather than raw IP addresses and expire from the active table. Structured prompt feedback is retained for up to one year; optional written feedback is deleted after 90 days.
Your choices
Analytics run automatically when a page loads. Browser privacy controls and content blockers can restrict those requests. You may unsubscribe using any newsletter link. Depending on your location, you may also request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection by contacting contact BenchLM on X. Some records may be retained where necessary to honor an unsubscribe or legal requirement.
